Air Serbia recently announced that it will launch a direct flight route between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, capital of Serbia, on Jan 11, 2025.

The route will be operated by Air Serbia's Airbus A330, with flights twice a week. Departures from Shanghai are scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays at 22:25 Beijing time, arriving in Belgrade at 04:45 local time. Return flights will leave Belgrade on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 00:45 local time, arriving in Shanghai at 19:00 Beijing time.

This new connection will enhance Shanghai's international flight network and strengthen ties with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), promoting economic, tourism, and cultural exchanges between China and Serbia.

Shanghai's aviation market has experienced a robust recovery this year. In the first 10 months, passenger traffic at Shanghai's airports exceeded 100 million, a 32 percent increase year-on-year. International passenger traffic surged to nearly 29 million, up 103 percent from the previous year. Currently, Shanghai's airports connect to 114 international destinations in 48 countries, including 58 destinations in 33 BRI countries.

The new direct flight to Belgrade highlights the growing ties between China and Serbia and reinforces Shanghai's status as a global aviation hub.
