Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)
Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
At 1:34 am on March 4, MSC Air Cargo flight CP251, fully loaded with cargo, smoothly landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, marking the launch of the first MSC Air Cargo route in China. The flight was greeted with a ceremonial water arch, a symbol of the highest civil aviation honor.
The flight departs again at 5:29 am for Milan Malpensa Airport, injecting new momentum into trade relations between China and Europe. This new route strengthens Pudong Airport's position as a comprehensive international logistics hub.
In November 2025, Shanghai Airport Authority (AVINEX) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with MSC Air Cargo. The partnership focuses on leveraging the strengths of both parties in global networks and multimodal transportation. Pudong Airport will serve as MSC Air Cargo's strategic gateway in the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on supply chain upgrades, digital cargo, and sustainable logistics practices.

The new route will operate twice weekly using Boeing 777 freighters, connecting Shanghai Pudong and Milan Malpensa. This service will transport high-value, time-sensitive goods such as cold chain products, pharmaceuticals, and fresh produce, further strengthening the "Air Silk Road" for exports from Shanghai.
AVINEX is expanding its cargo network, aiming to serve 63 destinations in 31 countries by 2025. The airport expects to handle an annual cargo volume of 4.5 million metric tons, setting a new record.
